Funzi Ngobeni is appointed as ActionSA’s leader for Gauteng

Following Bongani Baloyi’s resignation from ActionSA on Monday, Funzi Ngobeni has been named as the organisation’s Gauteng chairperson.

Party leader Herman Mashaba claims in a statement that discussions about the choice to designate Ngobeni with the senate and the Gauteng PEC structures are over. Ngobeni was a council member for the City of Johannesburg.

A little more than a year after leaving the DA for ActionSA, Baloyi announced his resignation. The former chairperson resigned, as a result of unbridgeable differences between himself and Mashaba.

Yesterday in an hour-long media briefing in Sandton, Baloyi was open and honest about the reasons behind his abrupt resignation.

Baloyi stated that he was unhappy about being promoted to the role of national spokesperson, particularly after learning that there had been a breach of trust.
