The Department of Arts and Culture has joined Mzansi to send well wishes to rapper Leslie Mampe, popularly known by his stage name, Da L.E.S. This after he suffered a stroke on his 39th birthday.

“We have had the opportunity to interact with his mother, who is currently in the USA and have extended our well wishes to her and the family. We have assured them of our continued support and encouragement.

“We want to show our love and support to the family of Da L.E.S during this trying period and to let them know that the country is behind them, and we are praying for his speedy recovery, so he can get back to contributing to our music and being motivation and inspiration to our young people,’’ read the statement by Deputy Minister, Bertha Mabe.

The rapper’s family released a statement last week Friday, that he had been hospitalised, adding that he is in a stable condition. The ordeal led to the cancellation of what was meant to be his 39th birthday celebration.

The Heaven hitmaker’s family also indicated that updates regarding his condition will be communicated as they become available.

Fans and industry colleagues extended their best wishes to the rapper and are hopeful that he will make a full recovery.
