The state’s sixth witness, Mthokozisi Thwala says he has no reason to protect the people who were in the house over his close friend Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.
This after the defence lawyer, Advocate Zithulele Nxumalo said there were no intruders and someone who was in the house allegedly killed Meyiwa on the 26 October 2014.
“I put it to you that the deceased was shot at by one of the persons who were inside the house. Obviously not the children. He didn’t shoot at himself. There was no robbery there and he was not shot at by one of the intruders who had the firearm,” said Nxumalo.
But Mthokozisi Thwala insists that there were intruders and he has no reason to protect the people who were in the house.
“Hence I say that is not true. There were two intruders in the house. It means we are still going to be here for another nine years. I have absolutely no reason to protect anyone who was in the house over my friend. I have no business with them and that is where I am getting confused. There were two intruders who came into the house,” Thwala insisted.
Meyiwa was shot and killed in 2014 in Vosloorus where he was allegedly watching a soccer match, drinking and conversing with friends when two intruders allegedly barged in.
At the time he was in the company of singer and girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandile, their mother Gladness, Mthokozisi Thwala, Longwe Twala and Tumelo Madlala.
Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli have denied any involvement in the shooting and killing of Meyiwa including charges of, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
