Jabulani Dlamini is aggrieved and demanding justice after he was allegedly assaulted by police officers stationed at Tlhabane Police Station.

According to Dlamini who lives in Lefaragatlha, near Rustenburg, in the North West, the police who assaulted him accused him of being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Dlamini said he was shocked when police arrived at his house, demanding that he hand over the firearm and he was assaulted even when he told them he doesn’t own one.

“I have received a call from my wife, as I was out partying. My wife said the police are at the yard saying they’re looking for a gun. So when I came to the yard, the police came back and asked who Dlamin was.

“The officer didn’t have a name tag so I kept asking him who he is, then he replied by saying I’m not supposed to ask him questions as he’s an officer. I then asked if he had a search warrant. That’s when they started to push me around and searched my cousin’s van and didn’t find anything.

“They even searched the house, and still found nothing. That’s when they started to push me, strangeling me until I fell. That’s when they ‘moered’ me, they gave me a good hiding and left me at the police station. Now in the morning, the statement has changed and they are accusing me of assaulting them”.

The spokesperson of the Police Investigative Directorate, Robbie Raburabu said they’re investigating a case of assault against the officers.
