The Israel Defense Forces issued an urgent warning on Sunday to residents of 11 towns and villages in southern Lebanon, urging them to evacuate their homes and move at least 1,000 metres away to open areas.

The military said it was carrying out operations against Hezbollah following what it described as a violation of a ceasefire agreement. It warned that civilians near Hezbollah fighters or infrastructure could be at serious risk.

Israel has continued to conduct strikes across southern Lebanon, while its forces maintain a presence in parts of the region, targeting what it says are Hezbollah-linked sites and infrastructure.

In response, Hezbollah has sustained drone and rocket attacks against Israeli troops operating in Lebanon, as well as targets in northern Israel, raising fears of further escalation.
