Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has apologised to the team’s fans, following a heavy 4-1 defeat against SuperSport United at the FNB Stadium last night.

This was the team’s biggest defeat since the commencement of the Betway Premiership.

Former Chiefs strikers Samir Nurkovic and Christian Saile compounded the team’s misery, by scoring one goal each at a wet stadium.

Matsatsantsa were the first to register their name, through Nurkovic in the third minute.

But Amakhosi equalised in the 30th minute through Makabi Lilepo.

But the draw was short lived, as Saile scored against his former employer in the 32nd minute, followed by Gamphani Lungu’s goal in the 63rd minute, before Siphesihle Ndlovu netted Chiefs fourth goal in the 83rd minute.

“It was a very difficult game, and a very painful loss,” said Nabi.

The Tunisian-mentor also blamed the loss on fatigue.

“But as I mentioned, when the physique isn’t well, you can see we gifted them the first three goals.

I’m not going to give excuses, but there are excuses.

We only had two days for the players to recover after an exceptional match in the Nedbank Cup over the weekend.

Unfortunately, as I said, we can’t give excuses, but they are excuses,” explained Nabi.

The devastating loss sees Chiefs drop to sixth position from fifth in the log, while the win, which was SuperSport’s first league win in 2025 sees them remain in 12th position.
