Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the departure of experienced Uruguayan midfielder Gastón Sirino after two seasons at Naturena.

In a statement released on Monday, Amakhosi thanked Sirino for his commitment and contribution, describing him as a key figure in the squad both on and off the field.

Sirino made 39 appearances in all competitions for Chiefs, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. The club also praised his professionalism and leadership, saying he set an example for younger players and played an instrumental role in helping Amakhosi lift the Nedbank Cup last season.

“During his time with the Glamour Boys, Sirino featured in 39 matches, scoring five times and providing eight assists across all competitions, setting an inspiring example of professionalism for the younger players in the squad to emulate,” the club said.

Chiefs added: “We thank Gaston for his commitment and passion, as well as all the memories he leaves behind at Naturena.”

Before joining Chiefs in 2024, Sirino enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he established himself as one of the Premier Soccer League’s standout attacking midfielders. After arriving from Uruguayan side Bolívar in 2018, he helped Sundowns win multiple domestic honours, including five Premier Soccer League titles, the Nedbank Cup, the Telkom Knockout, the MTN8 and several league cup competitions.

Known for his creativity, vision and ability to unlock defences, Sirino was a key member of the Sundowns side that regularly dominated South African football and competed in the CAF Champions League.

It remains to be seen where will his next destination.
