Mamelodi Sundowns are beginning to look unstoppable in the Betway Premiership title race after reclaiming top spot with a disciplined 1–0 victory over Polokwane City in Seshego.
The Brazilians moved two points clear of Orlando Pirates, extending their unbeaten run to 17 matches — a streak that underlines their dominance and championship pedigree. Despite the narrow scoreline, Sundowns controlled the match throughout, demonstrating the composure and depth expected of title contenders.
Their persistence paid off in the second half when Marcelo Allende finished calmly following a sharp assist from substitute Lebo Mothiba. Even a missed penalty failed to derail their momentum, highlighting their resilience and confidence.
Elsewhere, Siwelele FC delivered a statement performance with a convincing 2–0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the Free State Stadium, ending Amakhosi’s seven-match unbeaten run.
Siwelele made a fast start, taking the lead through Tebogo Potsane in the seventh minute, before Sphesihle Jeza doubled the advantage before the half-hour mark with his first senior goal. Ghampani Lungu was instrumental in both goals with his creative play.
Chiefs improved after the break, with efforts from Wandile Duba and Glody Lilepo, but were repeatedly denied by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
The result lifts Siwelele into ninth place, boosting their hopes of a top-half finish, while Chiefs remain third but face increasing pressure in the race for CAF Confederation Cup qualification.
