Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have booked their ticket to CAF Women’s League after being crowned COSAFA Champs

Mamelodi Sundowns will once again represent the COSAFA region at the CAF Women’s Champions League after being crowned Champions at the qualifiers on Friday.

Banyana Ba Style beat Double Action Ladies of Botswana 2-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal.

It was a mouthwatering encounter, with both teams in high spirits, as they both finished at the summit of their respective groups.  

The Brazilians emerged as the top scorers of the tournament, netting an impressive 21 goals across six games, they secured five clean sheets, showcasing a flawless performance.

Andisiwe Mgcoyi, scooped the overall Golden Boot Award. Masandawana also claimed the Golden Glove of the COSAFA tournament with Andile Dlamini taking home the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.

The CAF Women’s Champions League will take place between the 5th and 19th of November 2023, with this season’s winners guaranteed USD 400,000. 

Sundowns have now reached their third consecutive CAF Women’s Champions League and will be hoping to reclaim the title they won in the inaugural season (2021), they were runners-up in last year’s edition, losing 4-0 to AS FAR of Morocco.
