The Michael Jackson biopic Michael has officially surpassed the $600 million mark at the global box office, with industry analysts now pointing to upcoming Asian market releases as a key factor that could drive the film significantly higher in the months ahead.

Despite mixed critical reception and controversy surrounding its portrayal of the pop icon, the film has maintained strong commercial momentum across North America and select international territories. Its steady weekly performance has helped it secure a return to No. 1 at the domestic box office in its fourth weekend.

According to studio estimates, Michael is currently the second-highest-grossing music biopic in history and remains on track to challenge major industry milestones if its remaining international rollout performs strongly.

A major boost is expected from upcoming premieres across Asia, where Michael Jackson continues to command a large and dedicated fanbase. Markets including Japan, South Korea, India, and Southeast Asia have yet to fully contribute to the film’s global total, leaving significant box office upside still to come.

With projected domestic earnings of up to $28 million this weekend and strong audience retention, the film is showing unusual longevity compared to typical biopics.

Analysts suggest that if Asian releases perform in line with expectations, Michael could extend its run well beyond the $600 million milestone and potentially move closer to the billion-dollar threshold.
