South African football star Relebohile Mofokeng has continued his impressive rise after helping Royal Union Saint-Gilloise lift the Belgian Super Cup.
Mofokeng scored the winning penalty as Union Saint-Gilloise defeated Club Brugge 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time to claim the season’s opening silverware, marking another milestone in his promising career.
Mofokeng came off the bench in the 61st minute, with his side trailing, but it took 16 minutes for Union to find an equaliser through Kevin Mac Allister to force the game to go to penalties.
The latest triumph comes just 70 days after Mofokeng celebrated another title, having won the Betway Premiership with Orlando Pirates before completing his move to Belgium.
The 21-year-old also represented South Africa at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with Orlando Pirates, further underlining his rapid development into one of the country’s brightest football talents.
Mofokeng has settled quickly into life in Belgium, and his composure from the penalty spot helped secure Union Saint-Gilloise’s first trophy of the new campaign. His strong start in Europe is expected to boost expectations for another successful season as he continues to make his mark on the international stage.
