Authorities have deployed police divers to aid in the hunt for a firearm connected to a violent shooting at the home of Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.
The incident unfolded on Thursday in the upscale Hyde Park neighborhood, north of Johannesburg, where a gardener was critically wounded by gunfire. The victim remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
Chatunga Mugabe, along with an accomplice, was swiftly apprehended by police in relation to the event. Both individuals now face charges of attempted murder as the investigation continues.
Officials believe the weapon may have been disposed of nearby, prompting the specialized underwater search efforts. No further details on the motive or additional suspects have been released at this time.
