A section of Modderspruit Village near Brits in the North West, has been without electricity for more than three weeks and there is no plausible explanation from authorities, the affected residents say.
The residents say the power outages they experience have nothing to do with Eskom’s rolling load shedding and they have been trying to get answers in vain.
Kenny Legodi, said they can’t cook and their appliances have been damaged and they have reported the matter to the power utility with no success.
While Ephraim Majila, said whenever electricity cuts, it takes forever to be fixed.
Simon Tshimane Tabane said Eskom doesn’t take them seriously as even when they call there is no response.
“We’re sick and tired of Eskom. I feel they’re taking us for granted. We have been reporting this matter for the past three weeks and no one has made an effort to come and check how bad the situation is.
“I had to throw all my rotten groceries into the bin. I have lost a lot of money which I don’t have. How long should we eat takeaways,” asked the frustrated resident.
Eskom did not respond to enquiries from Newsnote.
