The North West province has once again obtained 4th position in the overall matric results that were announced by the Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga in Randburg, north of Johannesburg on Thursday evening. This as the class of 2023 received 81.6% pass rate, an increase of 1.8% when compared to the class of 2022 that received 79.8%.Free State, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng are the three top leading provinces followed by North West respectively.
The class of 2023 has received an impressive overall pass rate of 82.9% the highest rate since the dawn of democracy in the South Africa. Meanwhile, the South Africa’s Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in the North West has applauded the class of 2023 and all the stakeholders.
“We are very much happy about the 1.8% increase, we want to applaud the class of 2023 for their resilience and the hard work.But over and above that we want to thank our educators for making sure that they prepare our learners.The support our learners received from the parents and everyone who played pivotal role in making sure that we can achieve improved results,” said SADTU provincial Secretary, Els Themba.
More than 48 000 candidates wrote their final examinations at about 444 centers across the province.Education MEC Viola Motsumi will announce the provincial results at the Sun City Resort near Rustenburg on Friday where top achievers in the province will be honoured.
