The murder of ANC ward councillor Aubrey Tsengwa in Knysna has raised fresh concerns about political violence ahead of South Africa’s local government elections. Self-proclaimed political fixer Brown Mogotsi is set to make his fourth bail application after appearing in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court. Mogotsi is facing multiple charges, including perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm.
