Gauteng police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of popular entertainer DJ Warras, as investigations into the high-profile case continue.
The Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation’s Provincial Investigation Unit, working together with Crime Intelligence and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police, carried out a targeted operation which led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Mozambican national in Marathon informal settlement in Primrose on Friday evening.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was taken into custody at around 20:00 on 30 January 2026.
“The arrest forms part of a Crime Intelligence–led take down operation aimed at tracing all individuals involved in the murder of DJ Warras. The suspect will appear in court on Monday facing charges of murder and contravention of the Immigration Act,” said Muridili.
The latest development follows the arrest of the first suspect, Victor Mthethowakhe Majola, whose bail application was denied on 26 January 2026. Majola is expected to return to court on 11 February 2026.
The killing of DJ Warras on 16 December shocked the local entertainment industry and sparked calls for justice from fans and fellow artists. Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing and further arrests remain a possibility.
