Police have opened a case of attempted murder after three people including a one-year-old child were shot and injured in Westbury on Thursday night.

The shooting happened at around 20:30 on 13 November 2025.According to police, two suspects were chasing a man who fled into a house in the area. The gunmen followed him and opened fire inside the home. Three people in the house were hit by stray bullets, while the man being pursued managed to escape. The victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities and are reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo condemned the attack, saying officers are working urgently to track down the suspects.

“We will not allow criminals to terrorise the residents of Westbury. Our members are following strong leads, and we are confident that the suspects will be arrested,” Masondo said.He also appealed to residents to assist with information that may help the investigation.

The incident comes amid a long-running cycle of gun violence and gang activity in Westbury, where residents have for years raised the alarm about frequent shootings, drug-related turf wars and the proliferation of illegal firearms. Several deadly incidents have been reported in recent months, with community leaders calling for deeper intervention from law enforcement. Police say the search for the suspects is ongoing.
