Police are urgently working to establish the identity of a fifth woman found dead in Olifantsfontein, as concerns grow over a series of deaths reported in the broader Kempton Park area.
The woman has not yet been identified, and police are also trying to determine her age and the circumstances that led to her being found along Porcelain Avenue.
The discovery comes after the bodies of four other women were found in the wider Kempton Park area over the past two months, including locations along the R21 near O.R. Tambo International Airport.
The latest crime scene has since been cleared after pathologists and crime scene investigators spent several hours examining the area and collecting evidence.
Police are appealing to anyone who has reported a woman or female relative missing to come forward with information that could assist in identifying the latest victim.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the discovery of five women dead within the same general vicinity was a major cause for concern.
Investigators are now working to determine whether there is any connection between the cases.
However, police have stressed that establishing the identity of the latest victim remains the immediate priority as investigations continue.
