North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi has urged eligible residents to participate in the 2026 Local Government Elections, emphasising the importance of exercising their constitutional right to vote.
Mokgosi cast his ballot in Vryburg, under the Naledi Local Municipality, on Wednesday, 4 November, where he encouraged residents to make their voices heard through the ballot.
Speaking after voting, the Premier said every vote contributes to shaping the future of communities, the province and the country.
He also reiterated that the provincial government’s responsibility to communities extends beyond election periods, reaffirming its commitment to accelerating service delivery, improving infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities and ensuring residents have access to quality services.
“While elections are an important cornerstone of our democracy, our commitment to the people does not begin or end at the ballot box,” Mokgosi said.
The Premier further highlighted the government’s focus on expediting the delivery of basic services and creating opportunities for communities.
He commended electoral officials, security personnel, political parties, observers and volunteers for their contribution towards ensuring a peaceful, free and fair electoral process.
Mokgosi urged residents to exercise their democratic rights responsibly and uphold the values of unity, respect and active citizenship throughout the election period and beyond.
