President Cyril Ramaphosa has reaffirmed the commitment to guarantee the full implementation of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry recommendations.
He warned that those implicated will not be spared in any shape or form.
During a Q&A Session at the National Assembly on Wednesday, the President ordered the formation of a Special Task Team to probe the Commission’s findings and suspend those incriminated at the hearings.
He continued to appeal for patience during this period, citing rising pressure of prosecutions from civic organisations, the public as well as political parties.
“We keep on reporting and at the Presidency level, we report every update of what is being done. The work that is being done is quite considerable. We will implement the recommendations of the Madlanga Commission. Legal processes are underway in terms of our Constitution and they may take some time which may frustrate a lot of people, but we have to allow this to ensure that there is proper and full justice”, said Ramaphosa.
His assurance comes after the announcement to extend the Commission’s deadline by another five months, to allow additional time to receive outstanding witnesses.
Ramaphosa emphasized the crucial role of this Commission, in restoring public order, trust and ethical governance in the running of the Country’s justice systems.
He concluded by adding that while the Presidency awaits the final findings of the Inquiry, it will continue to take necessary steps and action, as it implements the proposals of the first report which was handed over in December last year.
