Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said in a statement yesterday that he plans to announce his newly selected cabinet at 7 pm today.
A cabinet reshuffle has been widely expected since Ramaphosa was re-elected leader of the governing African National Congress (ANC) at a party leadership contest in December, paving the way for him to run for a second term in 2024.
In response to extensive social media comments, Ramaphosa had not announced his new cabinet as rumoured on Thursday evening because of a common cold, but was able to attend a private dinner at his Phala Phala estate in Limpopo on Friday night before the Ankole cattle auction.
Due to the recent resignation of David Mabuza, South Africans anticipate major changes to be announced.
