Bus company Putco will operate about 500 buses for the Zion Christian Church’s (ZCC) Easter pilgrimage to the Moria Holy City in Limpopo.

The religious pilgrimage makes a return after five-years, after the church closed its doors in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak restrictions.

The company said it used to dispatch about 800 buses for the pilgrimage, however, this year’s event will follow a phased approach, with around 50% of the usual operations in place.

“All buses assigned to the ZCC Moria operation will be from Putco’s new bus fleet, equipped with new-generation features designed to enhance safety and comfort for passengers.

Furthermore, Putco has upgraded its technology, with its Monitoring Control Centre now fully equipped to live-track all buses using advanced GPS tracking and live-feed cameras.

This will ensure a smooth journey and allow for early warning alerts and quick response to any unusual situation on the road,” said Putco spokesperson, Lindokuhle Xulu.

According to the entity, the operation will commence from 18 April 2025, as buses depart from various Gauteng and Mpumalanga regions, returning on 21 April 2025.

The company will work in partnership with the South African Police Service, and the Transport Department and Traffic Authorities in Limpopo.
