President Cyril Ramaphosa has assured South Africans that government is fully prepared to respond to any potential disruption linked to calls for action against undocumented immigrants on 30 June.

Responding to oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ramaphosa said security agencies are on high alert and measures are in place to ensure public order is maintained.

He emphasised that government expects the day to proceed normally, with citizens able to go about their daily activities without fear or disruption.

“We are ready to deal with whatever disruption, instability that could take place,” Ramaphosa said. “On the 30th… we are taking measures to ensure that the 30th becomes a normal day where people will be able to work, to go about their business. Our security forces are ready.”

The Presidency says coordinated planning between law enforcement agencies is aimed at preventing unrest and ensuring stability across the country.

Authorities continue to monitor developments closely amid heightened public attention around immigration enforcement discussions.
