In a spirited address at the Mandela Park sports complex in Khayelitsha, African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has reassured the residents of Khayelitsha and its surrounding areas that the party will make a concerted effort to enhance service delivery in the Western Cape. Ramaphosa’s statements come as part of the ANC’s ongoing renewal programme aimed at transforming the party into an ethical and decisive leadership body.

Highlighting the importance of accountability and responsive governance, Ramaphosa underscored that the renewal initiative is pivotal for the ANC’s mission to serve the people more effectively. “The ANC acknowledges the challenges faced by the communities in the Western Cape, and we commit to prioritising your needs,” he affirmed, resonating with local sentiments that have long craved substantial improvements in public services.

During his speech, Ramaphosa pointed towards the party’s commitment to fostering transparency and diminishing bureaucracy as critical approaches to restoring public trust. “We are determined to replace delay with delivery, ensuring that our communities are not only heard but that they receive tangible benefits from their engagement with us,” he stressed.

As part of the renewal programme, Ramaphosa affirmed the ANC’s resolve to cultivate a new breed of leadership characterised by integrity and an unwavering focus on the delivery of essential services such as housing, healthcare, and education. “By ensuring our leaders are ethical and decisive, we can guarantee that the needs of our communities take precedence over political agendas,” he elaborated, evoking a sense of hope and possibility for attendees.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, with many residents expressing their eagerness for transformative change. Community leaders voiced their support for the ANC’s commitment, eager to witness the authentic implementation of these promises in their daily lives.

As the ANC navigates the complexities of governance in a historically challenged region, Ramaphosa’s assurances serve both as a rallying call and a pledge of responsibility to the people of Khayelitsha, firmly positioning the party’s intentions towards a future marked by progress and sustainability.
