Following allegations that licenses were being purchased, police in the JB Marks Local Municipality in the North West searched a licensing office.
The community has been asked not to purchase driver’s and learner’s licenses by the municipality.
The municipality’s spokesperson, Jeannette Tshite, states that the South African Police Service has been notified of the situation and is presently looking into it.
Therefore, the general public is cautioned to exercise caution and to avoid falling for the fraud of purchasing driver’s and learner’s licenses.
“No individual or service provider has been chosen to offer such a service on behalf of the municipality,” the JB Marks Local Municipality Drivers License Testing Station would want to state in the record. Members who believe they may have fallen victim to fraud are asked to contact their local station of the South African Police Service to report the incident.
