American actor Richard T. Jones, best known for his role as Police Sergeant Wade Grey in the hit television series The Rookie, is set to appear at Comic Con Africa in Johannesburg this September.
Jones will join thousands of fans at the annual pop culture and gaming festival from Friday, 25 September to Sunday, 27 September 2026, where he will participate in live activities and meet fans.
Born in Kobe, Japan, to African-American parents, Jones has built a career spanning more than three decades, appearing in some of television’s most popular and acclaimed productions.
His early television credits include NYPD Blue, Courthouse and Dangerous Minds, before landing a main cast role as Officer Clements Johnson in the Emmy Award-winning police drama Brooklyn South.
He later appeared in Ally McBeal and spent six years playing Bruce Calvin van Exel in Judging Amy. His other credits include Girlfriends, CSI: Miami, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, Hawaii Five-0, American Horror Story: Hotel, Narcos and Criminal Minds.
Since 2018, Jones has starred as Sergeant Wade Grey in The Rookie, further cementing his status as one of television’s recognisable actors.
During his appearance at Comic Con Africa with Capitec, Jones will take part in live panel discussions, giving fans an opportunity to ask him questions about his career and experiences working on major television productions.
Fans will also have the opportunity to meet the actor during autograph and professional photograph sessions. These experiences require an additional ticket purchase.
Comic Con Africa will take place from Thursday, 24 September to Sunday, 27 September 2026, from 9am to 6pm daily at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec.
The four-day festival will feature international celebrities, cosplay, gaming and technology, eSports, anime, manga, tabletop gaming, trading card games, collectibles, screenings and interactive experiences.
