Roger De Sa believes Percy Tau has underperformed since joining Al Ahly

Roger De Sa, a former assistant coach for the Egypt national team, thinks Percy Tau has failed since joining Al Ahly.

In 2021, Tau finalised his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Al Ahly by signing a three-year deal with the Red Castle.

Tau has received criticism from fans and commentators who expected a bigger goal return from the Bafana Bafana star forward despite a promising start to life in Egypt.

Percy Tau, 28, has scored twice for Al Ahly this season in just six league games, both against Ghazl El-Mahalla and Ittihad of Alexandria.

In the FIFA Club World Cup opening against Auckland City of New Zealand, he also scored for Al Ahly, scoring the third goal of the game after coming off the bench.

De Sa remarked on SuperSport TV, “I knew Tau was going to be a celebrity in Egypt when I saw him arrive.”

In that league, I predicted he would score 30 goals. Although he may have had a few injuries, I believe he have the skills to compete in that league and score 30 goals. He said, “It’s great that he has talented players around him.”
