The case against Captain Lawrence Makgotloe, a member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Forensic Science Laboratory, has been postponed to 2 June as investigations continue.
Makgotloe briefly appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where proceedings were delayed to allow further investigation and consideration of a possible bail application.
Authorities allege that the charges against him are connected to multiple ongoing murder investigations, as well as evidence presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
He was arrested on Friday at his Pretoria residence by the Commission Recommendations Task Team.
Police further allege that Makgotloe interfered with the administration of justice in relation to active murder investigations.
