Limpopo lekompo star Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Chauke, is set to stand trial in May 2027 after the court rejected further attempts to delay proceedings.

The Polokwane Regional Court has scheduled the start of his trial for 17 May 2027, bringing a firm date to a case that has been subject to lengthy legal proceedings.

Magistrate Felleng Ntileng reportedly rejected further delays, ruling that an earlier court order required the matter to proceed despite representations that remain pending before the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Shebeshxt remains in custody and is facing 21 charges, including attempted murder, assault and culpable homicide.

The charges stem from a 2024 vehicle crash in which his nine-year-old daughter was killed. The incident sent shockwaves through his fanbase and the South African music community.

The rapper’s legal battle has attracted significant public attention, with proceedings repeatedly coming under scrutiny as his defence team pursued further legal avenues.

With the latest ruling, however, the matter is now expected to move towards trial, with proceedings scheduled to begin on 17 May 2027.
