According to the allegations, the suspect was showing the victim his new gun and the two were acquainted.
The suspect, a reputed drug user, is said to have leaned over after the victim allegedly took the magazine out of the gun and set it on the seat.
Members of the community escorted the suspect’s mother to the site so she could help identify him after he denied being the shooter on the CCTV footage of the shooting at the Tokoza Police station. The mother apparently recognised the suspect on the film.
The suspect reportedly sold the gun for R800 and then acquired drugs right thereafter.
