The Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards continue to shine a spotlight on excellence in South Africa’s film and television industry, recognising the achievements of actors, producers, writers and technical crews who contribute to the growth of the local screen sector.

Hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Film and Tourism Authority, the awards honour both emerging and established industry professionals while promoting storytelling and creative talent development in the province.

Organisers say the awards play a vital role in discovering new talent and creating opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and television professionals.

Mthunzi Dubazana of Stained Glass Productions said his company is known for nurturing fresh talent and bringing authentic South African stories to television audiences.

He explained that the awards celebrate the contributions of film and television professionals while preserving the legacy of Simon “Mabhunu” Sabela, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of South Africa’s film and television industry.

The awards remain an important platform for recognising creativity, innovation and excellence within the country’s growing entertainment sector.
