Stock was reportedly shot and killed in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, while inspecting buildings connected to his private security business. The company was said to be involved in operations targeting the eviction of illegal occupants from hijacked properties in the area.

A well-known and influential voice in South African broadcasting, DJ Warras built a formidable career in radio over many years. He first rose to prominence at YFM, before moving on to 5FM, and later joining Gagasi FM, where he hosted the popular afternoon drive show from 3pm to 6pm alongside Nomalanga Shozi.

In recent years, Stock expanded his reach beyond traditional radio, reconnecting with audiences through podcasting. In this space, he engaged in candid conversations about pop culture, life and current affairs, revealing a more personal and reflective side of himself.

Renowned for his bold personality, entrepreneurial drive and ability to continually reinvent himself, DJ Warras was more than a radio presenter — he was a brand.

At this stage, his family says it is still seeking clarity on the motive behind the deadly attack, as tributes continue to pour in from fans, colleagues and industry peers across the country.
