The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial’s day has been shortened as a result of the submission of more car tracking evidence.
The court has been hearing testimony from one of the investigators, Sergeant Vusumuzi Mogane, on the movements made as he escorted accused, Bongani Ntanzi.
Due to assertions made by Ntanzi that stops were made en route to the Moroka Police Station, where he alleges to have been beaten and suffocated, Mogane was reexamined regarding the data. Ntanzi is one of five persons charged with killing the football player in 2014.
State attorney George Baloyi gave the defense access to vehicle tracking information on Monday, covering the period from June 16, 2020, when Ntanzi was taken into custody, to June 19, 2020, when he wrote his initial confession statement.
However, Ntanzi’s attorney, advocate Thulani Mngomezulu, informed the court that he also need the information from June 24—when Ntanzi reportedly made another confession in front of a magistrate—and June 22, when he was brought before the court on a different issue. The trial continues
