The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) said it is satisfied with the roll out of the court digital system to various Superior Courts in the country.
According to the OCJ, it managed to successfully pilot the online system at the Gauteng Division of the High Court, in addition to other roll outs at the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal High Courts.
In a statement, OCJ attributed what it described as a progressive implementation of the System at the Land, Labour and Labour Appeals Courts, to adequate training of the roll out through various webinars that were held to familiarise stakeholders with the functioning of the system.
OCJ adds that digitising services is part of its efforts to improve judiciary services.
“Court Online is and end-to-end e-filing, Digital Case Management and Evidence Management system for the High Courts of South Africa.
It provides Law Practitioners with the opportunity to file documentation electronically online, anywhere and anytime without being physically present at court.
It also affords Law Practitioners the ease of managing their court appearance diaries and court evidence instantaneously online.
Among others, it helps to minimise paper court documents from parties to the court, leverage the benefits of electronic storage that leads to faster document filing and retrieval, and in the process eradication of misplacement of court files and concurrent easy access to view the same court file filed by different parties,” explained the OCJ.
It added that the Limpopo Division of the High Court is expected to implement the Online System later this month.
