The party presented various black professionals who all gave glaring testimony at its 2019 manifesto review wrap up in Alberton, Ekurhuleni on Friday.

Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said many black professionals were still to come forward to acknowledge impact of the ANC government on their lives.

“This thing that democracy hasn’t worked is completely untrue. There’s a lot that the ANC has done for our people, you’re still going to hear testimonies from our people,” he said.

“Black people never used to fly aeroplanes but because of the work of the ANC we now have black people who are pilots such as this lady who comes from the dusty streets of Hamanskraal who will soon be a fully qualified pilot,” said Mbalula as he introduced Legend Segobela who is studying towards a private pilot license.

Segobela told the packed hall at Alberton Civic Centre that her parents who appeared alongside her at the event, went on early retirement so they can have money to fund her pilot studies. Segobela expressed gratitude towards the ANC and vowed to continue supporting the party saying she received a bursary from the South African Civil Aviation Authority.

“We are all ANC and we will always be. Who ever thought that a girl Hamanskraal could fly a plane, well I can do that now and this is thanks to the ANC and of course my parents,” she said.

Display of achievements is expected to be a key part of the ANC’s election campaign as opposition try to exploit the ruling party’s poor record in government to unseat it in the next elections. Professionals from several other sectors also gave testimony at the event.
