The late rapper’s bodyguard, Anwar “Dogg” Khan, claims protocol was broken the night of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’.

Last month, AKA was shot and killed in front of a well-liked eatery on Florida Road in Durban. Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, a well-known chef, also lost his life in the incident.

Khan owns the Pentagon Group bodyguard service. For the past eight years, he has been in charge of AKA’s security in Durban.

According to Khan, who was speaking on e.tv’s My Guest Tonight with Annika Larsen, there were no plans for AKA to go to Florida Road that night.

“Protocol was broken while I was absent. Kiernan received a call and an invitation to visit the Wish restaurant on Florida Road; he accepted and went. Just because that call would have come through the road manager if I had been present, that protocol would not have been broken,” he said.

Khan claimed he wouldn’t have suggested the location if he had known AKA was heading there.

Police Minister Bheki Cele stated in his last public comments that he was receiving daily updates on AKA’s case. Cele was speaking to the media following a ministerial imbizo on crime and gangsterism in Westbury, Johannesburg.

“This is an issue that we cannot put to rest. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a detailed account of what is going on, but progress is being made,” he said.

The murder is still being investigated and no arrests have been made.
