The employment insights report for February 2023 from jobs portal CareerJunction highlights the occupations that are now in great demand in South Africa.
The analysis is based on extensive data obtained from Saongroup South Africa, where millions of registered job searchers may view job postings from over 5,000 of the nation’s best recruiters.
The group reported that hiring activity climbed by (2%) between February 2022 and February 2023 (year over year) and that recruitment activity increased by (8%) over the previous month.
This stands in stark contrast to data from the beginning of the year, which indicated that hiring activity had decreased considerably and that there were no particularly in-demand job categories.
According to the survey, demand for workers climbed by (2%) in the building and construction industry and by 1% in the warehousing and logistics sector.
The need for labour in the information technology sector fell significantly, by (14%). Jobs in administration and office support decreased by (17%).
Finance professionals are still in high demand, according to CareerJunction, with the majority of them working in Gauteng (61%), the Western Cape (13%), and KZN (13% each).
