The Patriotic Alliance is hoping to establish some presence in the North West’s Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, by winning a ward in Rustenburg that’s being contested in a by-election.

The party has deployed its Deputy President Kenny Kunene to lead last minute campaigning in Tlhabane’s Ward 11 who is confident that his party will win the ward.

There’s little to no service delivery in Tlhabane including the contested ward and Kunene promised the PA can change that.

“We’ve been working our people have been working on the ground for a few weeks, and I think it’s the first time that the PA contested by-elections where it’s just just 100% black communities, and with the performance of Tuesday’s special voters, we did very well as we led the whole day.

“It shows that there’s that confidence that among our people, they believe in PA as they see the work that I’m doing in the City of Johannesburg, that the President is doing in the Western Cape. So we’re hopeful that we will win the by-elections,” said Kunene, who is adamant they will come at number two or three in the by-election results while stressing that it will be fine even if they got nothing .

Kunene said the party is an underdog and no one expects them to win but the electorate is now changing as they understand that they can’t keep on voting for people who don’t deliver services to the people.

Kunene said on his way to Yizo Yizo Informal settlement voting station, he was met with a runny sewage ‘like it was raining’, and has made promises to fix such issues like he did in Johannesburg.
