The three suspects charged in connection with the murder of e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat have abandoned their bid for bail. The Pretoria Magistrates Court has postponed the matter to allow for further investigations.
Satlat was allegedly hijacked and strangled to death last week after picking up a man and woman who had requested an e-hailing ride. The attack, which was captured on his dashboard camera, has since been widely circulated on social media.
Dikeledi Mphela, Gotsione Machidi and McLaren Mushwana made a brief appearance in court on Monday, where they formally withdrew their bail applications. They will remain in custody.
The case has been postponed to 23 February for further bail-related investigations.
Police have confirmed they are still searching for a fourth suspect believed to be linked to the crime.
Meanwhile, scores of community members gathered outside the court in protest, calling for the accused to face the full might of the law.
