More details have emerged in the trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who is accused in connection with the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. Jurors have been hearing recordings from a 2009 interview between Davis and investigators.
In the recordings, Davis discussed what happened after the shooting and said the firearm believed to have been used in the killing was left on the tyre of the Cadillac involved that night. He also said he never heard what happened to the weapon afterwards.
Davis described the shooting as his “deepest secret” and told investigators that he had not discussed what happened with anyone after returning to Compton.
The court also heard Davis discuss his relationship with figures connected to the long-running rivalry between Death Row Records and Bad Boy Records. He said Sean Combs was “real scared” of Suge Knight, while also discussing tensions surrounding the events that preceded Tupac’s killing.
Davis told investigators that he believed Knight may have seen him shortly after the shooting, although he said it only “looked like” Knight had noticed him. Knight remains a potential prosecution witness but is not necessarily expected to testify.
The continuing testimony and recordings are providing jurors with further insight into Davis’ account of the events surrounding Tupac’s death, although some of the claims made during the earlier investigation were never independently verified.
