Today marks exactly two years since South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibs” Motsoane were shot and killed in Durban in 2023.

At the time of his death, Supa Mega was preparing to release his fourth studio album titled Mass Country.

His family released the album in February last year.

The pair were shot at a close range outside a well-known restaurant on Florida Road, in Durban.

The motive behind their ruthless killing is not yet known, however, five men were arrested in connection with the crime.

All the suspects have denied their involvement in the crime.

Last week the suspects made another court appearance at the Durban Magistrates Court where the matter was postponed to May 8.

Magistrate Vincent Hlatswayo transferred the matter to the Durban High Court for litigation after it was marred by several delays.

Lindokuhle Thabani (30) Lindani Ndimande (35) Siyanda Myeza (21) Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29) are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.

The state also added two further charges of money laundering.

According to the state, the accused conspired to kill Forbes who they allegedly tracked from the King Shaka International Airport to a restaurant where he was shot together with Tibs.

The state prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba indicated that they’re ready for trial at the High Court.
