Fugitive Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma’s proposed plea agreement has hit another hurdle, with the State and defence still negotiating the terms of the deal in connection with allegations that he murdered his wife and two daughters.
Triple murder suspect Tshuma’s case has been postponed to 21 October as the State and defence continue negotiations over a proposed plea agreement.
Tshuma briefly appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Davis Mabunda told the court that the State is still negotiating the plea agreement with Tshuma’s defence team.
“We did agree with the defence you Warship that the matter be remanded until the 21st of October,” he said.
The defence confirmed that the negotiations have not yet been concluded.
Tshuma is wanted in the United Kingdom over the alleged murders of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, and their two daughters, Natalie and Nala.
The case has attracted scrutiny over discrepancies surrounding the proposed plea agreement, with the court previously finding inconsistencies between Tshuma’s plea, the prosecution documents and relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Act.
Tshuma also faces charges of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, as well as contravening the Immigration Act.
The matter returns to court on 21 October.
