A massive warehouse fire has destroyed a 2 000 square metre building at the Amalgam industrial site in Langlaagte, west of Johannesburg, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS), firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 2am after reports of a warehouse engulfed in flames.
The blaze completely gutted the structure, with the roof collapsing and exterior walls caving in as firefighters battled to contain the fire.
City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said no injuries or fatalities were reported during the incident.

“The fire incident affected the whole 2 000 square metre warehouse which burned down completely, with exterior walls collapsing and the roof caving in. Fortunately, no injuries were reported,” said Mulaudzi.
Mulaudzi added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Fire Safety officers will be conducting investigations to determine the possible cause of the fire incident,” he said.
Emergency services remained on scene monitoring for flare-ups while investigations continue.
