The time has come for seasoned radio host, entrepreneur and soul/R&B DJ Sweetness Motsepe to leave her footprints in the sand at YOU FM.

She departs the North West-based commercial radio station after 11 years of dedication and an impeccable work ethic.

Motsepe, affectionately known as The Sweet Caramel or Sweet Mama by listeners, joined the station in 2015 and made her mark through shows such as The Sweet Spot, Purple Soul Train and the drive-time programme, 326 Avenue.

In a heartfelt tribute during her final 326 Avenue show on Tuesday, 30 June, the station’s Chairman, Tebogo Pooe, described Motsepe’s departure as a bittersweet moment for both the station and the province.

“The people of the province are excited about your progress, but sad to see you leave. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you. Your new employers must know that they have found a gem in you. They must treasure you, or else we will come and take you back,” Pooe said jokingly.

In a statement, Managing Director Tebogo Mashego also paid tribute to Motsepe, praising her contribution to the station.

“Sweetness has been a cornerstone of the YOU FM family for years, playing an integral role in shaping the station’s identity and building an unbreakable bond with its audience. Her warmth, dedication and on-air presence have left an indelible mark on the North West broadcasting landscape,” Mashego said.

The Purple Family celebrated Motsepe’s final day at the station’s Rustenburg offices in style, with a memorable performance by a live brass band, one of her favourites.

The Mamelodi-born radio presenter will be remembered for her versatility as a broadcaster, her ability to drive impactful conversations and her talent for creating memorable moments through music.

YOU FM has also announced key changes to its programming line-up.

The former 326 Avenue has been revamped as YOU and The Boys and will be hosted by Katlego Monama, Morena Matsena and Jones Blaq Gzuz Jones.

Nomsa Ngwenya will take over Motsepe’s Purple Soul Train slot, airing from 14:00 to 18:00.

The changes take effect from 1 July 2026 at the station that remains in tune with its listeners.
