The ANC Youth League in the North West province says it is confident that the young leaders deployed to municipalities will transform local government.
This is the first time the ANC has deployed a high number of youth to become mayors, speakers and chief whips.
The league’s coordinator in the province, Wessels Morweng, applauded the ANC for heeding the young people’s call.
“We are gratified with what transpired. The ANC has demonstrated that it still cares for young people. It has demonstrated that the young people are an alternative. They have listened to us when we said to them, we want to ascend to municipalities, so that we save the dire situation of municipalities.
“We are confident that young people that are deployed as mayors, speakers and chief whips are going to transform the state of local government. Our people will get the services that they deserve, as it is their right and as it is enshrined in the ANC constitution,” Morweng said.
Meanwhile ANC Women League in the province has also welcomed the deployment of women to different municipalities.
