Former President Jacob Zuma is playing hard to get with the ANC as the liberation movement seeks to form a coalition government after losing its majority in the 2024 national and provincial elections.
National spokesperson Mahlengi Bengu-Motsiri briefed the media at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday and said the party has already met with the EFF, Patriotic Alliance, IFP, NFP and DA a final decision is expected to be taken by the National executive committee meeting scheduled to sit on Thursday.
Bengu-Motsiri said the door remained opened for MK despite its having ignored continuous requests for a meeting.
“The officials reported to the NWC that talks have been held with the EFF, Patriotic Alliance, IFP, NFP and DA after which options were put together that are to be put before the NEC for a decision.
The officials also reported that several attempts to set up a meeting with MK party have been unsuccessful. The door remains open for MK as I have indicated our approach is to speak to everyone,” she said.
The Patriotic Alliance, EFF and IFP have all shown willingness to work with the ANC while the DA wants to form a coalition with the liberation movement but exclude PA, EFF and MK.
