In a candid address at a mini-rally in the Kwa-Ximba area north of Durban, Jacob Zuma, President of the Umkhonto weSizwe Party, has voiced his concerns over ongoing power struggles among party members. His remarks, made in anticipation of the party’s first-anniversary celebration set for December 15 at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, underline the challenges faced within the organisation as it seeks to grow and attract new members.

Zuma’s comments shed light on what he described as a “distraction” caused by members vying for positions within the party. He expressed disappointment that instead of focusing on party development, some individuals are entangled in disputes, particularly between the roles of convener and co-coordinator. “What are they fighting for?” Zuma questioned, urging party members to reconsider their priorities. “Some people spend their energy on things that cannot benefit the party. What is the rush? When we eventually rule the country, there will be more positions.”

As Zuma prepared party members for future challenges, he also highlighted a significant claim regarding the integrity of the May elections. He asserted that the party has amassed substantial evidence proving that votes were stolen during the electoral process, implying that these actions have hindered the party’s rightful ascent to power.

“We have all the evidence now,” Zuma emphasised, stirring anticipation among his supporters. “This means that soon you will be called to run the country in Pretoria. Don’t be scared as I am telling you the truth; perhaps it can be the end of this year.” His forecast of a potential shift in administrative power has ignited excitement among party faithful, urging them to remain steadfast in their search for justice and recognition.

As preparations ramp up for the anniversary celebration, Zuma’s calls for unity, focus, and readiness for upcoming political battles will undoubtedly remain pivotal to the party’s strategy. The gathering at Moses Mabhida Stadium is expected to be a significant moment for the Umkhonto weSizwe Party, showcasing their resolve and vision for the future.
