The case against ANC Member of Parliament Sibusiso Kula was on Tuesday postponed by the Orkney Magistrates Court in the North West.

Kula is facing charges of killing his wife last November and the case was postponed to April 17 for further investigations.

Kula was denied bail in January and in February however, he took the matter to the North West High court to appeal the judgement and the matter was struck off the court roll.

The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Henry Mamothame said a notice for re-application on the appeal has been filed.

“An application to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution has been sent to authorise this case to be moved to a higher court. I can confirm that there is a notice for reapplication on the appeal made on the judgement to deny Kula bail, the date thereof is March 23,” he said.

Police reports reveal that Kula’s wife was found murdered on November 27 last year, in what seemed like a robbery.

She was found with a stab wound on her back but the object that was used in her murder has not been recovered.

The matter was reported by the local clinic where she was allegedly transported by Kula to receive medical attention. Kula told the police that he was not present at his home when the incident occurred.

Following thorough investigations by the police, he was linked to the murder, and he was arrested in January and charged. Kula will remain in police custody until the next court appearance.
