Former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter is expected to shed light on his allegations that Eskom is riddled with corruption when he appears before the Scopa  in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

De Ruyter made the startling allegations during a TV interview in February that high ranking ANC politicians are using Eskom as a “feeding through” and estimated that R1 Billion is stolen from the entity monthly.

After the well-publicised interview, political parties including the ANC and the Build One South Africa called on de Ruyter to name and shame the politicians implicated in the destruction of Eskom.

The DA says it will pursue criminal charges against those it believes are involved in corrupt activities at Eskom.

The party’s shadow minister of electricity Samantha Graham-Mare is accusing President Cyril Ramaphosa of refusing to act against members of his cabinet implicated in wrongdoing at the state-owned utility.

While de Ruyter will be appearing virtually at SCOPA, Eskom’s management will be briefing the parliament’s portfolio committee on public enterprises on the latest tariff  hike of 12.74% granted by the National Energy Regulator Nersa even though it is still failing to keep the lights on.
