BLF to meet former president Jacob Zuma for a possible electoral pact

Black First Land First (BLF) leader Andile Mngxitama is on Tuesday expected to lead a delegation from his movement for a meeting with former president Jacob Zuma in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.

In a statement released by BLF, the meeting will discuss the modalities of possible cooperation with the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe party during this year’s elections. Speaking to Newsnote, Mngxitama alleges that the enemies of black people are sponsoring multiple formations of political parties to weaken the black vote.

“BLF is worried about the divisions within the black community particularly expressed as multiple political formations. This is weakening the black voice,” explained Mngxitama.

He said he expect that both parties will determine a way forward on how they will work together ahead of the elections. Several political parties have been approaching Zuma since he declared his allegiance to Umkhonto Wesizwe.

Former ANC General Secretary Ace Magashule announced on Friday in Pietermaritzburg that his party African Congress for Transformation (ACT) has teamed up with Zuma to remove the ruling party from power. ACT said in a statement that the “Magashule Zuma United Front” will mark a departure from traditional politics towards a more inclusive, people centric approach. The Pan Africanist Congress also held a meeting with Zuma at his homestead over the weekend.
